Michio ‘Mitch’ Arai, Owner and CEO of Arai Helmet, Ltd. has been honoured with a place in the Motorcycle Federation of Japan’s (MFJ) Motorcycle Sports Hall of Fame.
Michio, the son of legendary Arai founder Hirotake Arai, was honoured as a ‘Person of Merit’ in the Hall of Fame in front of the crowds at the at the popular 2024 Tokyo Motorcycle Show in March.

A rider since the age of 7, Mitch became involved in the family business after his return from college in the USA and contributed to the creation of Arai’s first Snell-certified helmet in 1963. He became the CEO of Arai Helmets in 1976, and was joined by his son Akihito to continue the Arai family’s incredible heritage.
Founded in 1961, the Motorcycle Federation of Japan introduced its Hall of Fame to celebrate the history of Japanese motorcycle sport and to honour the athletes and officials who have achieved great success and significantly contributed to the industry.
